Computing

The Department has parallel processing equipment, SUN, SGI, and IBM workstations for graphics and image processing applications and a high-speed data link to the Argonne National Laboratory terabyte storage facility. The Department also maintains access to computing facilities elsewhere on campus and to supercomputers at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the National Science Foundation centers. Personal computers are available for student use at several locations in the Department.

The Department also has on-site Support Specialists to help coordinate and maintain UNIX and desktop systems.
