Popovic awarded NASA fellowship

May 24, 2016

Graduate Student Predrag Popovic has been awarded a three-year NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship (NESSF). This is a very selective program, with only 73 of 425 applicants receiving a fellowship. Predrag's application was titled "Exploiting Melt Pond Patterns to Understand, Forecast, and Measure Arctic Sea Ice" and he is being advised by Dorian Abbot.  His research involves applying pattern formation and statistical physics techniques to understand the formation and evolution of sea ice melt ponds, hopefully leading to better parameterizations of changes in the sea ice albedo as global warming unfolds. Congratulations Predrag!
