Research:

My research explores how stratigraphic architecture, discontinuity surfaces, and skeletal concentrations vary as a function of stratigraphic thickness.

In particular, my research focuses on Mid-Late Devonian carbonate-dominated sedimentary records in North America. Contemporaneous deposits in Iowa (craton) and Nevada (continental margin) differ in thickness by nearly an order of magnitude. My research will address whether cratonic records are comprised of comparable stratigraphic elements, that differ only in terms of thickness and spacing from those of continental margin deposits, or whether these records preserve qualitatively different types of stratigraphic packages, discontinuity surfaces, and skeletal concentrations.
