I am currently starting my fourth year as a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geophysical Sciences. I have recently returned to academe after seven years as a government contractor: I spent the four years prior to graduate school working as a Geographic Information System (GIS) specialist for the United States Antarctic Program, and the three years prior to that were with the United States Geological Survey in Anchorage, Alaska. My dissertation, titled 'Tidal motion of the Ross Ice Shelf and its interaction with the Siple Coast ice streams, Antarctica', models the flow of an ice shelf in response to tides and then validates the model results based on GPS data collected in the field. |
