About Us

The Solid Earth & Planetary Sciences group at the Department of the Geophysical Sciences (University of Chicago) gathers people with a shared interest in the chemistry and physics of the Earth and planets. Research activities cover a wide range of topics, from terrestrial magnetism to formation of the elements in stars. Scientists involved in this research rely on modeling, experiments, and analyses. The wide array of interests in the Solid Earth & Planetary Sciences group provides a fertile ground for talented students to expand their skills and become successful scientists.
