Vertical bars near the patch are from CTD fluorometer data, horizonal bar at
the sea surface is from continuous flow-through analysis [Balch and
Kilpatrick, 1996], and sections on either side of the front are from UOR
[Aiken and Bellan, 1990]. The patch chlorophyll concentration ranged
from 2.4 to 4.4 mg m-3, and extended to the depth of the patch mixed
layer. The actual Rhizosolenia mat was buoyant enough to be confined
within a few centimeters of the sea surface, and is not resolved by any of
