University of California, Berkeley

Primary instructor for 'Planet Earth', an introductory semester-length undergraduate course for intended Geology majors. Designed, organized and presented lectures, created and revised laboratory exercises, and planned and executed class field trips covering the breadth of Earth Science.

Graduate Student Instructor
Aug 2005 - Dec 2005
University of California, Berkeley

'Introduction to Astronomy' undergraduate course. Taught four sections of 32 students each, using activities and group work to help students understand basic astronomical and physical concepts, as well as science and the scientific method. Also responsible for evening student tutoring sessions and 'star parties', introducing students to the skies using a 14" University telescope.

Graduate Student Instructor
Jan 2002 - May 2002
University of California, Berkeley

'History and Dynamics of Planet Earth' undergraduate course. Created discussion section topics covering topics such as the Oklo reactor, the politics of global climate change, the Yucca Mountain Project, and the Snowball Earth debate. Topics were designed to stimulate discussion among Earth & Planetary Science undergraduate majors outside of assigned course work.

Graduate Student Instructor
Jan 2000 - May 2000
University of California, Berkeley

New undergraduate course 'The Age of the Earth'. Course material included an overview of modern dating techniques applicable to geologic time scales, introduction to basic analytical methods, concepts and controversies, and historical context.
