DESCRIPTION-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This dataset was downloaded in 2006 from the European exoplanets database, http://exoplanet.eu/ (The European Extrasolar Planets Encyclopedia). The data was not used in the book, but it is a convenient supplementary source of data. Note that the column delimiter is | . ALso, since some columns have text data or blanks for missing data, this cannot be read into Python using the readTable utility in ClimateUtilities.py. A customized line read routine is necessary, as in the ProcessExoplanets.py Chapter Script (in Chapter 1 scripts), used to read the tables generated by exoplanets.org . For the most part, this database is supplanted by exoplanets.org, which produces tables that are easier to use for analysis, but it is worth having alternate datasources since all of these data bases have some data entry errors.
