Welcome to my homepage.

I am a vice chancellor's research fellow in the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering at Northumbria University. My research interests include the theoretical areas of nonlinear waves, pattern formation, dynamical systems, and statistical physics, and the applied areas of metamaterials, nonlinear optics, climate dynamics, and fluid mechanics. I am part of the research group on mathematics of complex and nonlinear phenomena, and contribute to the multidisciplinary research themes of extreme environments and future engineering.

Previously, I held postdoctoral positions at University of Colorado at Boulder, Northwestern University, and University of Chicago, and obtained my PhD in physics at University of California at Berkeley advised by Edgar Knobloch.

You can find my contact information below. My academic staff profile at Northumbria University can be found here. This site (http://www.yipingma.com/) was last updated on 1 September 2019.
