Two factors that clearly impact stable isotope-based approaches to paleoaltimetry are surface temperature and precipitation. The animations are based on older dataset compiled by Leggates and Willmott for the period from 1920 to 1980, but show the regional patterns well.  The animations were made by Mike Hulver, former Paleogeographic Atlas Project graduate who completed his PhD in 1998, and is currently working for Saudi Aramco.
