Incoming T.C. Chamberlin Postdoctoral Fellow Darryl Seligman was recently interviewed by Wired Magazine and the New York Times about a new preprint posted on the arXiv, slated to be published in Astrophysical Journal Letters. Seligman posits that all of `Oumaumua's observed properties, most notaby its observed non-gravitational acceleration, can be explained by a significant molecular hydrogen ice mass fraction. Department alum Lei Wang (PhD 2016) will be joining Purdue University as an Assistant Professor this August. His new group will focus on large-scale atmospheric dynamics. Lei's University of Chicago thesis, advised by Noboru Nakumura, was "Periodic behavior of finite-amplitude wave activity in the Southern Hemisphere storm track."
