    Prof. Edwin Kite was featured in UChicago News for his recent publication in the Astrophysical Journal! It was previously thought very deep oceans would supress the geochemical buffers that stabilize Eath's climate, but modeling shows some water worlds stay stable for billions of years, increasing their habitability.

  • Olson has new biosignature work

    TC Chamberlin Fellow Stephanie Olson described a new way to detect life on exoplanets: by looking at seasonality in atmospheric composition.   • Kööp Nature Astronomy paper covered in New York Times

    A study led by former postdoctoral scholar Levke Kööp used the concentrations of helium and neon isotopes in little blue crystals of the mineral hibonite to show that the Sun was much more active in its early history than it is today. Their work, recently published in Nature Astronomy, attracted the attention of several news outlets, including the New York Times.
