Giorgio Sarro, an incoming DoGS PhD student, has been awarded the American Meteorological Society's Father James B. Macelwane Award for the upcoming academic year of 2020. The purpose of this award is to "stimulate interest in meteorology among college students through the submission of original student papers concerned with some phase of the atmospheric sciences". Giorgio received the award in recognition of his undergraduate research paper “A New Investigation of Post-Transition Intensity. Structural, and Timing Extremes for Extratropically Transitioning Tropical Cyclone”. The award carries a prize in the amount of $1,000. Congratulations Giorgio!
