The University of Chicago invites you to explore the fascinating world of science at the first annual South Side Science Festival, held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:00am until 6:00pm, at the UChicago Science Quads. This free festival will feature an afternoon and evening of fun science, inspiring exchanges, live experiments and demonstrations, food, and music! All ages are welcome!

Jennika Greer successfully defended her thesis on September 2nd titled "Atom Probe Tomography of Lunar Materials". Hannah's committee was Philipp Heck (primary advisor), Nicolas Dauphas, Andy Davis, and Edwin Kite.
What's next for Jennika? She has a postdoc at the University of Glasgow lined up.
Did you know there is an area on Planet Mars which NASA has named Glasgow? The Mars rover Curiosity, which landed on the planet in August 2012, has drilled at the site.

Hannah Bloom successfully defended her Master's thesis on August 4th titled "s-Process Molybdenum, Ruthenium, and Barium in High-Density Presolar Graphite". Hannah's committee was Andy Davis (chair), Thomas Stephan, Philipp Heck, Fred Ciesla, and Andy Campbell.
What's next for Hannah? This fall she will be a Guest Lecturer at Wheaton College, where she will be teaching Astronomy. In the spring she will be a Guest Faculty at Elmhurst University, where she will be teaching Environmental Science (which will involve a good amount of Earth Science). Future goals include earning a full-time position teaching at the college level.
