  • Congratulations Osamu Miyawaki!

    September 19, 2022

    Osamu Miyawaki successfully defended his thesis on September 16th titled “ Energy Balance and Lapse Rate Regimes in the Modern Climate and their Response to Warming”. Osamu’s committee was Tiffany Shaw (primary advisor), Malte Jansen, Noboru Nakamura, Doug MacAyeal, and Tim Cronin (MIT).

    What's next for Osamu? He will start as an ASP post doctoral fellow at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in October.

  • South Side Science Festival!

    The University of Chicago invites you to explore the fascinating world of science at the first annual South Side Science Festival, held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:00am until 6:00pm, at the UChicago Science Quads. This free festival will feature an afternoon and evening of fun science, inspiring exchanges, live experiments and demonstrations, food, and music! All ages are welcome!

  • Congratulations Jennika Greer!

    Jennika Greer successfully defended her thesis on September 2nd titled "Atom Probe Tomography of Lunar Materials". Hannah's committee was Philipp Heck (primary advisor), Nicolas Dauphas, Andy Davis, and Edwin Kite.

    What's next for Jennika? She has a postdoc at the University of Glasgow lined up.

    Did you know there is an area on Planet Mars which NASA has named Glasgow? The Mars rover Curiosity, which landed on the planet in August 2012, has drilled at the site.
