The Department of the Geophysical Sciences at The University of Chicago invites applications for the Provost's Fellowship. This funding program supports junior scientists from diverse backgrounds, including groups historically underrepresented in Earth and Planetary Sciences, such as women, Black/African-American, Native American, and Hispanic/Latino scholars. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Provost's Fellow for a three-year term, during which they will be able to pursue their independent research interests under the mentorship of the departmental faculty. The Fellow will automatically be considered for promotion to a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment in the department at the end of the fellowship period. The University of Chicago will be hosting a Symposium on Monday, September 17th and Tuesday, September 18th of 2018 to commemorate the life and legacy of Robert Clayton. A pioneer in the field of cosmochemistry, Robert Clayton spent over five decades as a member of the Department of Geophysical Sciences, and passed away in December.
