  • Reika Yokochi leads study on Floridian Aquifer and climate change

    Research Scientist Reika Yokochi worked with physicists at Argonne National Laboratory to develop a technique using nuclear dating to track historical climate change in the Floridian Aquifer. The technique, called radiokrypton, has the potential to drive discoveries in physics, geology, climate science, and many other areas.

  • PhD student Haynes Stephens receives Diversity Advisory Board Award

    Congratulations to 4th Year PhD student Haynes Stephens on receiving the PSD Divisional Award from the inaugural UChicagoGRAD Diversity Board Awards! Haynes is active within the PSD's EDI peer mentoring program, serves on the Deparment of the Geophysical Sciences' EDI Coordination Team, and has worked with GRIT on department-level recruitment efforts. 

  • Blättler and Jansen receive AGU Early Career Awards

    Congratulations to Assistant Professor Clara Blättler and Associate Professor Malte Jansen! Clara Blättler has received the American Geophysical Union Nanne Weber Early Career Award for "significant contributions to paleoceanography and paleoclimatology" and "exceptional promise for sustained contributions and continued leadership in paleoceanography and paleoclimatology." Malte Jansen has received the American Geophysical Union Ocean Sciences Early Career Award for "significant contributions to the ocean sciences" and "future promise within the ocean sciences." The awards will be presented during the upcoming American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting.
