Graduate Student Poppick Wins Paper Award

Graduate student Andy Poppick's work on evolving climate variability has won one of only four best student paper awards from the Section on Statistics and the Environment of the American Statistical Association. Andy is co-advised by Profs. Michael Stein (Statistics) and Liz Moyer (Geophysical Sciences). He will present his paper in a special session at the 2016 Joint Statistical Meeting in Chicago; a preprint is available here. Andy's research is supported by U. Chicago's Center for Robust Decision-making on Climate and Energy Policy (RDCEP) and by STATMOS, the Research Network for Statistical Methods for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.
