Francois Tissot, who completed his PhD in our department a few months ago and is now the Crosby postdoc at MIT, and Louis Block Professor Nicolas Dauphas have published a paper in Science Advances in which they present definitive evidence that 247Cm was alive in the early solar system, and show that this is consistent with a single environment of r-process nucleosynthesis in stars. Way to go guys!

Professor Nicolas Duphas, a leading isotope geochemist and founder of the department's Origins Lab, has been awarded the Louis Block Professorship. His work sheds light on the history and nature of our solar system, and his Dauphas' recent paper regarding the Earth's depletion of silicon was named "Editors’ Choice" by Science Magazine.
