Prof. Clara Blättler has been elected a 2019 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow in Ocean Sciences, for displaying outstanding potential as an early-career scientist. She joins 126 other scholars in leading the next generation of researchers working today in the US and Canada. Congratulations, Prof. Blattler!

Prof. Nicolas Dauphas of the Department was recently elected to be a Geochemical Fellow of the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry! The reward is bestowed upon outstanding scientists who have, over some years, made a major contribution to the field of geochemistry. Congratulations, Prof. Dauphas!

Alison Banwell and Ian Willis of CIRES at UC Boulder coauthored a recent paper on ice shelf collapse with collaborator Becky Goodsell and Department grad student Grant Macdonald & Prof. Douglas MacAyeal! They made the first field measurements of Antarctic ice shelf flexure due to meltwater lakes, which can lead to ice shelf break up. Congratulations to all!
