Work by Research Assistant Prof. Reika Yokochi made the latest cover of PNAS! Her recent publication probed the dual moisture sources and antiquity of deep desert aquifers in Israel using radiokrypton dating. She and her team determined that the past humid periods in the recharge areas were probably colder than present, and the long subsurface water residence time suggests that the Dead Sea Transform impedes water flow to create natural subsurface water reservoir that lasts hundreds of thousands years. In addition, the Prof. Yokochi was recently quoted in a UChicago News article discussing the publication. Congratulations!
