A recent publication by Katherine de Kleer of Caltech, Francis Nimmo of UC Santa Cruz and our own Assistant Prof. Edwin Kite was just featured in the New York Times! de Kleer et al. explored the relationship between Io's eccentricity cycles and activity in the moon's largest volcanic depression. The paper was published in Geophysical Research Letters in May. Congratulations to all!

Assistant Professor Graham Slater is featured on UChicago News this week, talking about his recent paper on the evolution of sloths. Prof. Slater was part of an international team of researchers who used evidence from ancient proteins to reconstruct the relationships of living tree sloths to their giant extinct relatives. "Not only do our results rewrite sloth classification," said Prof. Slater, "they suggest much of what we thought we knew about how sloths evolved may be wrong."
