Department Ph.D. candidate Megan Mansfield's recent paper on exoplanet HAT-P-11b was just featured in an AAAS Nova article. She and her collaborators used Hubble to study the hot Neptune, discovering that helium was escaping from the planet's atmosphere. HAT-P-11b joins only a handful of exoplanets with recorded atmospheric escape rates. Congratulations, Megan!

A recent paper coauthored by Prof. Doug MacAyeal, Jinqiao Lin, Becky Goodsell and Grant Macdonald and collaborators was featured in UChicago News! The team recorded diurnal variations in the McMurdo Ice Shelf's seismicity, linking the quakes to subsurface melting. Congratulations to all!
